Winter in Val di Sole
In Val di Sole, winter offers countless winter sports. You can also keep your favorite sport fresh and up-to-date with advanced courses and professional instructors.
Or you can discover new horizons, choosing between extreme sports and other new sports disciplines.
Five ski resorts: Madonna di Campiglio with connections to Folgarida and Marilleva, Peio, and Passo Tonale; all designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding skiers. These are the numbers behind Val di Sole's winter offerings.
290 kilometers of downhill slopes, 115 ski lifts; a skiable surface of over one million square meters, thanks in part to artificial snowmaking. Numerous ski instructors are available, both for beginners and for experienced skiers looking to perfect their technique.
Activities that can be done in Val di Sole during the winter:
Snowboarding: In just a few years, snowboarding has become one of the most popular winter sports, especially popular with younger skiers thanks to its free-spirited, acrobatic nature. Val di Sole, with its countless ski slopes and off-piste trails, allows you to have fun in harmony with the surrounding nature.
Ski mountaineering: Discovering the magic of the snow and the silence of the forest with ski mountaineering excursions is easy and exciting. Trips take place weekly in the Stelvio National Park, accompanied by park guides. Upon returning, everyone will enjoy mulled wine to warm up.
Cross-country skiing: Cross-country skiing in Val di Sole boasts a long tradition: excellent trails of varying difficulty and length wind through enchanting scenery. Some are floodlit, offering a truly unique experience.
Snowshoeing: A snowshoe hike is a unique experience, transporting those who experience it to a distant past, when mountain people used these ancient tools to move from one place to another in the winter. Many other hikes are a highlight of the area.
Downhill skiing:
Pejo is the oldest tourist resort in Val di Sole, in a valley nestled at the foot of the Ortles-Cevedale Alpine group, in the Stelvio National Park, with peaks reaching 1,400 metres.
Marilleva and Folgarida: a ski resort with 25 fast lifts serving 30 ski runs for a total of 50 km. The resort is connected to Madonna di Campiglio and Folgarida-Marilleva by skis. A free ski bus service connects the Marilleva, Folgarida, and Madonna di Campiglio ski areas.
The intermodal exchange between trains and ski lifts is important at the Daolasa di Commezzadura station.
Ice skating: numerous ice skating rinks scattered throughout Val di Sole offer fun for adults and children alike.
Sleddog: Experience the thrill of gliding lightly across soft snow, in a picturesque setting, pulled by magnificent huskies with grey/blue eyes, on a sled that appears fragile, but is actually extraordinarily resistant.
Ice climbing: Ice climbing has seen incredible growth in recent years. The development of rock climbing has also led to a growing number of enthusiasts who find ice climbing a natural extension of their summer activity.
